Congratulations are in order for Kranti Mapuskar PhD and Joshua Schoenfeld who were selected to receive a Scholars-in-Training (SIT) Travel Award to the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Radiation Research Society, to be held in Hawaii. Kranti's winning abstract was titled "Mitochondrial superoxide mediates the age-associated increased susceptibility of normal human fibroblasts to radiation and chemotherapy". Josh's winning abstract was titled "Superoxide and H2O2-mediated disruptions in iron metabolism mediate the selective sensitization by pharmacological ascorbate to chemotherapy and radiation."
Over 244 abstracts were submitted to the Society this year for consideration of the award. Both recipients receive an $800 travel award.
