Ascorbate P01 authors

September 2018-Researchers at the University of Iowa were awarded funding for a P01 program project grant titled "Exploiting Redox Metabolism Using Pharmacological Ascorbate (P-AscH) for Cancer Therapy." This five-year grant, totaling $9.7 million, studies ascorbate as a novel additional treatment for use by patients being treated for brain, lung or pancreatic cancer. Based on the results of basic science research accumulated over the last decade conducted through the Free Radical and Radiation Biology division, as well as Phase I and II  clinical trials conducted so far, this study is furthering the work on: 1) pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, (PDAC, Project 1), 2) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC, Project 2), and 3) glioblastoma multiforme (GBM, Project 3).
